A Grobag (baby sleeping bag) is replacement blanket for your baby. It is unsafe to use a blanket for your baby because they are just to small (especially for newborn) A grobag is a sleeping bag for your baby. Sleeping in a grobag can easily give your baby the right temperature and babies can sleep safely. You don’t have to worry they might go under the sheets.
I discovered this when i notice my baby was not sleeping right because of the temperature. I was using a baby blanket and my air condition was at 24c and i still felt like she was cold. I thought to myself that is not right, it’s already 24c if i go any higher it would be super warm. So i thought i wanted to buy a thicker blanket. But of course all the thicker blankets are only for toddler age up, so that was not suitable. Then the sales person introduced to me the grobag. Once i saw it, i knew this was the right accessory that i needed. It’s not too thin nor too thick and it’s fully wrap at the bottom. It provides the right amount of warmth for the baby. Since it’s a vest style, it allows the babies arms to be free and air can get through the body without making the baby too cold.
Tog ratings
After purchasing it, i quickly put it to the test. It’s just how i imagined it to be, it was the perfect temperature for my baby. You select a grobag according to their tog ratings. Tog ratings describes the warmth. Most grobags ranges from 1.0 tog to maximum 2.5 tog only. For winter weather you would use a 2.5 tog. For us here, we’re summer all year long, a 1.0 tog is just nice to use in a air conditioned room. You can adjust the baby clothing if your want the baby to be warmer (ex: wear socks, long sleeve bodysuits) Or dress lightly for the baby before wearing the grobag. It all depends on the room temperature you are in.
It’s design with all the safety features for the baby. Don’t have to worry babies slip down into the grobag.
Reasons why you need it
* Keeps baby covered and warm all night long.
* Don’t have to worry baby go under the sheets or kicking off the covers.
* Comfort and warmth for hot or cold weather.
I find it useful especially when i do my midnight feeding. I can just cuddle her with her grobag without changing her temperature so she stays nice and comfy. Usually babies will eat and sleep at the same time during their midnight feed. Before using the grobag, every time when i move the baby to another room she will wake up because of the change of temperature. Babies can fall asleep anywhere. Like mine, usually when she fall asleep in the living room in the evening, when i move her into the room with air condition she will wake up (when babies feel cold they will wake up easily) That problem has be solved now. And i noticed how much she loves it. She look so comfy in it.
Extras:
When babies are use to sleep in their grobag, where ever you put them to sleep as long as they have their grobag they are good. However strange the room or the bed, baby always feels at home in their favorite grobag (gives them a habit and they won’t fuss about sleeping elsewhere)
Makes it harder for baby to climb out of my crib and explore the house when everyone else is asleep.
Stops babies feet from getting stuck in the crib bars.
Stops baby from scratching itchy eczema.
An ideal time to start using a Grobag baby sleep bag is when your baby weighs more than 8 lbs 8oz (0-6 mths size). It is very important to check that your baby’s head cannot pass through the neck-hole when the Grobag is fastened for use. Please remember that these are recommendations only as all babies are different.

0.5 tog for 24-27c which i think it’s’ too warm for us here.
1.0 tog for 21-23c which i think it’s perfect for our air conditioned rooms (summer weather)
2.5 tog for all year round 10-20c recommended for winter climate.
Make sure that your baby’s legs and feet have freedom to move about, by ensuring that the Grobag is long enough for your baby.
I bought mine, 0-6 months and for us Asian size i’m sure it can go pass 6 months. Also depends on how long or how fast your baby grow. I’m loving the grobag and probably will buy another 1 when she grows out of this one. There are so many cute designs to choose from. I got mine at Mothercare. It ranges from Rm 149 and above. Ikea has it too, but i didn’t quite like the material. It does come in different materials and other brands as well. Ikea is selling for Rm 79. Do check out other brands as well before purchasing a sleeping bag for your baby. Have fun!
